The Kindness Club: Week 18 Prompt

It’s week 18 of the Kindness Club.

Thanks to all of you who have been reading and joining in on the weekly kindness prompts even if you are not posting or commenting.

Last week’s Kindness Club prompt was to be more conscientious about recycling.

If everyone improves their recycling habits by even a little bit, the world will be a lot better off.

This week’s prompt is to be kind to animals.

I am not what you would call an animal lover by any means. Forty years later I am still only getting used to dogs. Although at least now I can be in the same room as them and even pet them. Better than me running away in panic I guess.

A few months ago something weird happened to me. I had some ants crawling on my counter (I know, yuck) and for some reason I could not kill them. I felt like I was killing a living thing for no good reason other than the fact that it inconvenienced me.
When I killed a scorpion a few weeks back instead of just getting him out of my house, again the guilt pangs. Although with that I was able to assuage my guilt because of the risks.

So this week, focus on being kind to animals in general. Although many of you might not be game for extremes such as mine, maybe you will think twice next time before you kill an ant or fly you don’t need to. Kindness extends to all living creatures.

Write a blog post about your kindness experiences. Or you can choose to capture the spirit of the weekly prompt in a photograph ala Tara Cain’s Gallery at Sticky Fingers.

Come back on Sunday to link up your posts and pictures. (I will leave the McLinky up from Sunday till Sunday.)

If anyone who is not a blogger wants to join in please feel free to email me at newdaynewlesson@gmail.com and I will put your story or photo up on my blog.

I am me and also lots of other things like a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a daughter in law, a sister in law, a friend, an oncology nurse, a blogger, a life coach in training, an avid book reader, a chauffeur, a chef, a shopper, a maid and on some days a bit overwhelmed. On this blog I share my journey of striving to see the best in everyone and everything. Strive, because I don't always manage to. Yup, I am human. I would love to have you join me in learning lessons in positivity from life.

Great choice for a prompt, am a massive animal lover, although I must say I don’t have qualms about killing ants who venture where they are not wanted… like inside my house.
    Gorgeous pic too :)

  2. Ryan says:

I’ve had ant problems in the past, pesky critters.
It’s not only the cute and cuddly animals that need our love.

I think that learning to be kind to all living things is important. Same as with grouchy or angry people, non cuddly or pesky animals make it hard to be kind to them.
