Life Sends You The Right Teachers At The Right Times

  • Sharebar

I believe that life sends you just the right teachers at just the right time.  Many times, those teachers are just the “mirrors” you happen to need or can learn most from at that particular moment.

I view myself as a generally positive person. Lately, I have been having a bit harder of a time getting through my days in as positive a way as I would like. I know I am doing way too much for the amount of time I actually have and I feel the difficulty.

I am not sure, yet I have a feeling that I have been complaining a bit more as well. Oh, who am I kidding. I have been complaining more although I do catch myself faster than I used to.

This morning on the train, one of the other passengers didn’t stop screaming talking on her cellphone for almost the whole trip. I was trying to do some writing, and quite honestly, I couldn’t even hear myself think.

What struck me most, was how whiny she sounded and how much she was complaining. She was sending out negative vibes and I just cringed and wanted to get as far away from her as possible.

During a moment when she was complaining about her daughter having been sick all night and her not having gotten any sleep, it was like someone shook me. It was like someone woke me up and said, this women is sitting next to you for a reason, and not just to drive you nuts. She is here to remind you what you don’t want to sound like and what you don’t want to make people feel like.

It was quite a realization for me to remember that it is a very short trip downhill from positivity to negativity, from being someone people are happy to be around to being someone people want to avoid.

So whiny lady, thank you for being annoying as can be my teacher this morning.

What have your “teachers” taught you lately?

I am me and also lots of other things like a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a daughter in law, a sister in law, a friend, an oncology nurse, a blogger, a life coach in training, an avid book reader, a chauffeur, a chef, a shopper, a maid and on some days a bit overwhelmed. On this blog I share my journey of striving to see the best in everyone and everything. Strive, because I don't always manage to. Yup, I am human. I would love to have you join me in learning lessons in positivity from life.

  1. Well I think you’ve just taught me to make negatives positive. So my lesson is not to worry about putting weight on since I’ve quit smoking but looking at it as a necessity in order to quit. And now I have I can have a much more active lifestyle and lose the weight anyway!
Thanks Susie, I’m going to make myself that bit more positive!

      Thanks for sharing that.

Also something that I have learned is that you can’t change and maintain too many habits at once. One at a time is the best.

  2. [...] Whether you believe in coincidences or not, you can still choose to believe that each person in our lives has a gift for us, enriches us and teaches us about ourselves. [...]
