Over the years I have learned to trust my gut feeling as to what it is that I want, what I think is right and what it is I want to do.
Along with learning to trust my gut instinct and identifying my true feelings, I have also developed a “grown up” attitude to help me decide to whether or not to act upon that gut instinct. There are times in my life when even when I know something is right, and it’s what my heart wants to do, I end up making a decision at odds with that gut feeling. There are other people and responsibilities in my life that I need to consider. I have a family, I have a job and there are financial considerations.
Today is the last day of the year. The end of anything is a cause of introspection.
I had a moment today which led me to realize that thinking with your head is not always the right course of action. I am not advocating being reckless. What I am saying is that their are times when you need to let your feelings and your heart outweigh your head.
If you want to, you can rationalize anything you want. There are times when you say to yourself that there are things more important than what your gut wants you to do. Along with that realization, you also need to remember that there are times when it is now or never. Times where you won’t get a redo. Times when you need to go with your gut or you will regret it.
My wish for myself and for others this coming year is to remember how important it is to listen to your feelings just as much and at times even more than your head.
Have you ever a time when you know you should have listened to your gut feeling? Did that experience change the way you reacted in the future?
