So how did all this start?
I got the urge to start journaling/blogging after a conversation I had with my husband, Mark, on one of our evening walks. I was telling him how an experience I had gone through years ago I now clearly see and believe, was a lesson and preparation for me, on how to deal with something going on currently in my life. The very practical Mark said, everything is a lesson, just crossing the street is a lesson.
I am sure he is shocked, but I think he is right. Every single day brings with it loads and loads of things for us to learn, about ourselves and life. I think the difference in how we live and view our lives all comes down to how we perceive the things that happen to us and how we view the things that we do; good, bad and neutral. It’s all about how we interpret and internalize those lessons and use them to make our lives better.
I think every day should be about making ourselves better people and making the world a better place to live, through love, understanding and helping each other.
I am far from perfect but I do see a vast improvement in myself especially in the past few years in regards to how I view things and how I react to them. I also know that I still have a lot to learn. Maybe this is a form of a midlife crisis (I did turn 40 last month), but I think that for many years I have been trying to find some way to help people. I often wish I could turn the clock back and return to 20 years ago with all the knowledge I now possess. Then again, maybe the lessons I have learned over the years would not have been as powerful for me.
Every day of our life brings with it an opportunity to learn new lessons about life and about ourselves. Like the tagline of my blog NEW DAY NEW LESSON says: Life hands you the lessons, you decide what to learn.
All the lessons we learn are probably things we have heard before. It is our own experiences and interpretations of that lesson that help us internalize it and grow from it.
This blog is my humble attempt at putting my personal insights about things that I learn each day into words, in the hope that they will help or inspire someone else. I hope you enjoy it!
