About Me

My name is Susie.

I am happily married and a mother of 5 children ages 3-19. I was born in New York and I moved to Israel almost 20 years ago with at the time 1  1/2 kids. I work part time as an ER nurse and full-time as a mother and wife and all the jobs that go along with that.

Some would say I am going through a mid life crisis seeing as I just turned 40 last month. I think I finally am putting more thought into what I was meant to do with my life and more energy into planning my future.

Everyone is born with their own unique qualities, loves, hobbies and talents. I think I was born with a a little bit of a number of gifts. I am creative but am not artistic. I am very organized but am not good at interior design. I was born with a lot of drive but sometimes have a lack of direction. I have loads of enthusiasm but sometimes not much patience. I am passionate about things I believe in but I can be pushy. I like to communicate but sometimes I talk too much. I am caring but sometimes can be a bit callous. I like to help people but sometimes I forget to listen. I am spiritual but also practical and down to earth.

One thing I know is that I was born with empathy and a need to help people. That is a need that has just grown stronger over the years. Sometimes my urge to help others can come at the expense of my own well being or the needs of my family. That is a fine balance I am always trying to achieve.

Maybe my drive to help people was what led me into a career as an ER nurse or maybe it was just a clueless 17 year old just choosing something to learn. While I know that I help many people as a nurse especially where I work, I think my calling in life is in a different direction. I think I was meant to help people make changes for the better in their own lives. I have a few ideas on how I might be able to do that and am exploring programs of continuing education for myself.

In the meantime, this blog is my way to start trying to make a difference. (If you want to read how and why I started the blog click here.)

I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for reading.

February 2011-Update:

About 5 months ago, I started learning life coaching. About 3 months ago, I finally made the move from the ER to outpatient oncology. I also started working part time managing the websites and writing content for a medical services company.

I am enjoying it all and learning to manage the challenges of a much more intensive week. Without a doubt, the housework is definitely suffering. Although, as my grandmother would say, nobody will remember if my floors were dirty or clean. Make time for the important things.

I am trying to do just that.

  1. Hi Susie,
I’m glad I found your site. I’ll come back later when I have more time to read some of your lessons.
I was prompted to comment because your tagline is a bit difficult to read due to the lack of contrast with the river in the picture. Moving it to the right (or flipping the picture horizontally) might be a quick fix;-)

Are you a pisces? Because I can’t even begin to explain the “spiritual awakening” I have been having about life in general. And I found your site when I was looking to see if anyone else thought things happen for a reason.

  5. Love this profile…. particularly the down-to-earth spirituality! And I am SO with you on the housework (or lack thereof!). Can’t begin to tell you how much I am looking forward to our trip – and to meeting you… :) Xxx
