Every Once In A While It's Healthy To Let Your Silly Side Show

Every one has a silly side to them. Some people just have it hidden better than others. And then there are those who don’t hide their silly side well enough.

Being silly is as important to living a great life as being serious is. Serious and silly each have their individual appropriate moments. Sometimes they even mix.

Who doesn’t like having a serious moment lightened up by random silliness? Actually I guess there are moments of seriousness where silliness would be inappropriate. No one likes a joker at a funeral for instance. But forget morbid, we are talking silly right now.

Silliness makes us happy. It makes us laugh. It even makes us creative.

Silliness makes other people laugh and laughing makes people feel good. Silliness can be emancipating.

So while it doesn’t have to be every day, do remember every once in a while to take time out of your day to be silly. If you are intersted you can check out this article about being silly.

In the spirit of silly and serious, I give you a vlog that combines serious with a bit of silly. I take sock-locks very seriously. Laundry, that is something I can get silly about.

What do you like getting silly about?

And now without further ado here is my entry in the Just Vlog It Teach Us Something Challenge hosted by Heather at NotesfromLapland and Karin at Cafebebe.

Lol, I want your cape and sock locks!

    1. LOL-will lend you the cape. Wish I could find or lend the real life fast forward for chores to someone!

Sock locks are easier-just buy them!

Sadly I receive no money for promoting them!

  2. Vegemitevix says:

That is excellent. Such talent! I am impressed. Off to find those sock lock thingies…

    1. The hard part is training the animals, oops mean kids, to use them. Cause even though it is still easier to sort the socks before the wash and clip them, they do stink. My kids are lazy and roll the socks into balls so I know which is a pair, but they are slacking off on the pairing bit. Hubby though is now well trained! Even better than me!

  3. Dara says:

I love it! If only I could fast forward my laundry folding!
Teaghan asks “How did the girl in your computer fold laundry that fast.”
The sock-locks look neat but I can’t even get my kids to put their socks in the laundry or even remove both socks in the same area of the house! Wonder if I could convince hubby, though. He usually rolls his together when he puts them in the laundry but then I have to unroll them when I’m sorting or they end up in the washer still rolled. And when I unroll them they manage to move to polar opposite ends of the laundry pile.
Wow if we lived near each other we could have laundry folding parties! 1 bottle of wine, 2 capes and 6 baskets of laundry sounds like a Saturday night!
You should contact the sock locks people about a paid review or even and affiliate program!

    1. LOL-I really should get paid for all the free advertising I have done for sock locks over the years. And for magic sponges as well!

Also lol picturing the two of us in capes. :-)

  4. Ed says:

You’re hired! The pay sucks but the folding job is yours for the taking.

    1. I don’t want to be hired to fold laundry! I want to be hired to promote sock locks! I do it for free so why not get paid???

  5. Nicola says:

Hilarious vlog. I have always loved being silly. I get in from my mum, who always took great delight in acting like a loon and embarrassing the hell out of my sister. Nowadays it is so easy to let loose with the silly behaviour because the boys are so young. Not so sure it will be so rapturously received as they get older. I am anticipating many a raised eyebrow and eye roll…

    1. LOL-definately get the rolled eyes even from the 11 year old already. But what’s the point in being a parent if we can’t embarrass them?

  6. Oh my, I thought Amy had a lot of toys!!

    CJ xx

    1. LOL-you haven’t even seen them all in that video. But in fairness, I do have 5 and that’s been 19 years in the collecting. :-)

  7. Devorah says:

Amir wants to know why I can’t fold laundry that fast

    1. Silly-cause you didn’t put on your cape!

  8. Me again, I guess with 5 kids you need a lot of toys!

I came back to say thank you for your comment on my blog today. I really appreciate what you said. I don’t really think I have an ugly mug, it’s just a saying, but thanks for pointing it out. I have a giveaway post either tomorrow or Friday, which I hope will build up a few credits for myself.

    Thanks again,
    CJ xx

    1. Glad it was just a phrase!

  9. Agree with you about lightening the moment with some random silliness, and as for funerals – we managed to have a giggle at my grandad’s funeral when my mum’s hat nearly flew into the grave. All the women had to wear hats because of the type of church it was in so prior to the service my extremely serious aunt had issued everyone a hat from her cardboard box. To see my mum in a little black number with a veil that didn’t suit her at all, and then to see it nearly get buried was just too silly to keep the smirks inside… but you’re right, most people didn’t approve

    1. LOL-that was like my mom’s hat flying of during the first set of dancing at my wedding. (Jewish orthodox wedding-she was not amused or happy about it)

  10. Chantal (acad) says:

That was impressive but don’t you iron ??

    1. Why thanks. Iron everyday clothing? Do I look insane???? And I have a really fab steam press type of iron as well. It is only dress shirts, pants, skirts, army uniforms…that get ironed. (But I Do use the tumble dryer)

  11. Debbie says:

So can you fly over and fold my laundry?? PLEASE!!!!!!!

    1. Nope-but I will help you a little when I see you. :-)

  12. Must get laundry cape and sock locks. Then the 25 loads of clean but unfolded laundry that are threatening to takeover my house would not continue to cause me daily nightmares. LMAO! Great vlog.

    1. LOL-don’t know if the cape will work as well without the video fast forward, but the sock locks are great!

  13. writerdebbie says:

Please come to our house super laundry folder! This is classic you! LOVE IT!!!!!

    1. Glad you liked it! I have a waiting list for laundry folding though! You want to see another blogger teach you how to fold really really cooly?

  14. Bev says:

wow! Super fast folding Susie!! tee hehe

    1. Wish I really had those powers-would be great for cleaning as well!

  15. Jendi says:

So true – it’s just going to get worn again so it doesn’t have to be perfect.
    Another fun video!

    1. Susie says:

That is one cool robot! Does it clean too? Or only fold laundry?

Thanks Superwoman, I am definitely going to get sock locks! How have I survived this long without them?!

    1. Susie says:
